'Tis The Season To Have Babies: 28

Allow me to interrupt this series of carnage with a uber cutie patootie photo of the kids who are one week apart in the same pose ...

Let's give Nate and Keidi a round of applause for being crowned Mr and Miss Pouty Pouterson.

Do we really have children so that we can amuse ourselves?

Yes.

Amongst other reasons, of course.

Mother - Aunty - Daughter.

It's true.
There are many roles a woman can take on.
There might also come a time when you will be robbed of everything you have built and all you have left are the children and your faith.

I'm learning how to be a mother, aunty and daughter once again.

"Yummy ... I can use the phone yo!"

So little Keidi seem to say when she automatically placed the phone to her ear (the wrong way round) right after giving it a couple of good chews and spitting on my phone.

Uber cute lah.

Keidi multi-tasks with one for the sucker and one for the booger.

Now that I'm the family chauffeur for trips to the supermarket, bank and hospitals ... I get to witness the little wonders of the young ones at home. It's such a pleasure to just wake up and know that the most imminent task ahead is to get your family to NTUC for groceries.

Pure bliss.

Waterbabies.

20 years ago, the family live beside a swimming complex and our weekends evenings were spent in the water. Therefore, the fact that I've never managed to learn how to swim ... befuddles me. My dad did dunk me in the but I don't remember struggling. I was a fat kid but I don't remember people laughing at me. I could use a kick board and propel myself halfway across the pool but I don't remember why I stopped.

The school implemented compulsory swimming the year after I graduated. Right after that, I was afraid of showing up in the dodgy skirted swim suit that I had and to show off budding breasts. Puberty was a tough time.

Now that I've been there and know how unforgiving privileged waterbabies can be, Shea must learn to swim. It's really no fun growing up missing out on what others can do and be a backbencher that can't even trap water.

Superficial I may sound, Shea is growing up in an environment where judgements are passed quickly and children have no compassion nor patience. The world is moving at a speed where I can't help but feel that I ought to equip my child with ammunition just so that "she does not miss out".

Weekend time is now sun-block slathered time and I have never felt more determined to keep my daughter afloat.

I am enjoying this family time I get to spend with the rest of them who has made cameo appearances (they came to check out the swim coach I'm sure). Even Keidi has joined in and those wrinkly toes of her are simply the cutest disgusting little things I've ever seen.

Keidi wins the contortionist award for sucking her toes in fell swoop!
For an 8.5kg baby in her sixth month ... she is one helluva flexi-turnip ... I am muy impressed!

Things are not all find and dandy in kiddy lala land. There are times when babies grump and frump too. Keidi fell off the metre tall bed and hit the hard ground. It's so hard to coax a smile out of this little sweetheart with hydraulic legs. It was a sad day that made me cry.

However, all is good now and this little lactose powered dynamo is back in action with a pair of nice new square teeth in her 6th month!! That's a rare one, considering she's 3 months ahead.

Remember parents, never take their dormancy for granted ... they are storing energy so that they can leap off the bed to take a swig from the dog bowl before returning to their position and have a good poop later.

I've finally got Keidi!!

The trick is to set my camera on continuous mode ... that's the only way to catch this little kungfu missy in action. Sweet little contemplator who knows how to groove and laugh along with John Legend ... this one's a keeper.

It's Keidi's turn!

This little one is a tough one to capture.
Keidi's hardly in a state of rest everytime all is right in the frame, she plops her head to the other direction, decides to blow saliva bubbles or sneaks a peck at Shea ... uber cuteness.

Shea, treats Keidi like a sister of hers and dresses up to match Keidi if she has similar outfits. If Keidi's in pink, out comes her pink pyjamas. If Shea is wearing her favourite charm necklace, she'll pull another bracelet from her stash and lops it on Keidi's pudgy forearm.

This one's a mischievous one to watch.
