Halcyon Days of Exhibitions.

The sight, sound and smell of things trigger different thoughts for each of us. Chancing upon this photo made me miss my ex-colleagues so so much that it brought tears.
Some are in Dubai, some have moved on, some have crossed paths with my current job, one is in priesthood, some are still eking it out.
Suntec. I miss Suntec. I miss the smell of the carpet, the clang of the crockery as they get rolled out in trollys, I miss the smiles of acknowledgement that the waiting staff reserve for me. Not sure who I am but they see me around enough to know that I belong to the extended family.
The exhibitions industry is drained. Fresh blood is tainted, the veterans are tired. It's depressing to watch the state of an industry that I so love, deteriorate.
I've thought about Dubai many times ... do I join my comrades where the live firing is? I've pondered and spoken about it ... the answer is no. I've got family, I've got a daughter, I've got love. I've got the more important things in life to hold me back, instead of making the assured climb in the Middle East with nothing but sand to break my fall.
There are more important things in life, I remind myself.
"nothing but sand to break my fall".
how apt, a brilliant way to describe why some of us are still here too i guess. we've got friends, family, and love so why do we still find ourselves pondering over things that seem far fetched? *sad smile*

The most dangerous thing ever, is to typecast and stereotype yourself. So what if you have a family and a daughter. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring. Nothing is fixed. Nothing is dead. Nothing is boring. And nothing is impossible. Life works in mysterious ways. It's not like a textbook. If you have a dream, hold on to it. If not free now, keep it in sleep mode but do not restart. Save it in layers. Put it next to your kitchen. Store it in your ipod. Once you lose this dream, i suggest you forget about buying yourself a pair of Nikes. Life is change. Change is Life. And dreams are meant to be realised.
