"What is Shea doing now?
... OH! She is playing with a toy chicken that lays eggs."

But my dear, you never for a moment mentioned that it is ...

  • An Ah Lian Hen!
  • That erupts into techno trash something along the lines of the "ai-yai-yai, you're my little butterfly" song that plagued me through my pregnancy days as I watch my siblings dance to it on the Dance Dance Revolution dance pad!
  • That has blinking transparent wings and tail! IN PINK!!
  • That the eggs are laid/unloaded from a mechanical laying/unloading ramp from where the rear entrance is!
  • That it runs around in circles like its headless predecessors!
Oh hell, No ... it didn't help that right after my sister called me on the train, Ms Anais Nin had to tell me about little Hejda ...

"Hejda was then a little primitive, whose greatest pleasure consisted in inserting her fingers inside pregnant hens and breaking the eggs, or filling frogs with gasoline and setting a lighted match to them."

I never thought that it would be such a joy to watch my daughter peer into the anal canal of an animal. Mental pictures of my little barbarian running amok in kampungs, chasing roosters and hens filled me with a motherly kind of pride - a pride that only a demented mother who secretly knows what her daughter is capable of, can understand. Shhh ... here's a wry smile for you ...

I had fun.
Wouldn't you?
Just keep the frogs and gasoline away.

PS: Have I mentioned that I hate eggs?

That chicken kicks ass! (Uh, hope that didn't conjure any strange images for you ... ) Where can I get one? No Chinese New Year party this year would be complete without one.

Haha ... year of the Golden Rooster.
Well, it's at Ang Mo Kio central @ $9.90 only!!

Cheep Cheep!

Ah, this one not the same rooster I saw at the Pasar Malam... my one got feathers all, and looked real. Scary shit.

Hmm .. the rooster you mentioned - I will keep a lookout for it when I make my rounds at the Toa Payoh/Hougang/AMK pasar malams.

Aren't we all looking forward to what the Fire Dog has in store for us next year? Pups that waddle, flip and bark - that'll be an old school revival.
